A + w o r k s Architecture + Consulting is a woman-owned practice based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Founded in 2012 on the principles of inclusive design to create lasting, positive impact.
Working closely with clients our designs are intentional and rooted in resilient, high-performance design that foster well-being for individuals and communities.
We prioritize locally sourced and produced materials, that bolster economies and place-based solutions, responding to the unique environmental and cultural conditions of each project.
Working on either local or global projects, our designs balance innovation, performance, and stewardship to create architecture that is both enduring and adaptable.

Meet Anna, Owner + Architect
Anna L Koosmann is an award-winning citizen architect with more than 20 years of practicing across the U.S. and internationally.
As founder of A + w o r k s Architecture + Consulting, she leads collaborative projects advancing high-performance design rooted in wellness, resilience, and sustainability.
She has worked on several Minnesota Phius certified projects, including Bowman Phius Zero Passive House, a single-family home that is designed to produce more energy than it uses.
Her Fulbright research earned a National EDRA CORE Award (2018) for the innovative bamboo projects she led as a Visiting Design-Build Instructor in the Philippines.
Anna has presented at conferences nationally and internationally, authored six ARE 5.0 Exam Review Guides (2023), and was featured on the cover of Millennium Magazine (2024).
She was also instrumental in gaining support for the adoption of hemp-lime and strawbale appendices into Minnesota’s residential code, making Minnesota the first state to do so.
She currently serves as President of Phius Alliance Minnesota.
